For the past 60 years SCHS has proved to be one of the best health institution in the country with extraordinary excellence in provision of highly skilled and knowledgeable healthcare providers who are now spread across the country’s wider variety of healthcare systems. Given the number of years that we have been in the service, it remains a great honor for us as we get encouraging feedback of performance of our products in their working areas.
Our college is situated alongside Shirati KMT Council Designated Hospital which has been our teaching hospital and an important area in offering basic ground for clinical practices and sharpening practical skills to our students, eliminating the need for students travelling to distant areas in search of a clinical practice area. This makes it easy for closer supervision and guidance by tutors.
The college started with a single programme i.e Certificate in Nursing and Midwifery. Later on it expanded and began to offer a certificate in Community Health. The need for upgrading courses lead to the establishment of a Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery and later a Diploma in social work for both pre and in-service students. However plans are under way to establish a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences this year, which will incorporate both pre and in-service students.
The need for expansion to meet our mission and vision has been the main focus of the institution. The plan is to introduce 5 courses including a Diploma in clinical medicine, dentistry, medical laboratory and diagnostic radiography in the coming years. This will be accompanied by building new classes, laboratory, skills lab, computer lab, library, offices and hostels. These will suffice the accommodation of both the programmes, teachers and students.
